Gallatown Spooky Walk 2025!!

  • 6 October 2025

The Gallatown Community Initiative (a local community group) has discussed the possibility of organising a Halloween event for the kids. The favourite idea is a spooky walk, but we’ll need more people involved in the planning.

This is an opportunity to start a new tradition and add something extra to Guising. The group has my vote to spend up to £250 to cover costs. I understand many might have already started planning other Halloween parties, but it’s still worth getting involved in our discussion for future guising nights!

Location

Including the park in the Spooky Walk is a crucial opportunity to highlight its value. We plan to use the visibility from this event as evidence to advocate for much-needed park improvements. Our strong partnership with Kirkcaldy YMCA at Gallatown Hub (right next to Gallatown Park) makes utilising the park’s wild space—and potentially the Hub itself, depending on scheduling—a natural and sensible choice.

Getting Involved

We have a meeting planned for anyone from the community to attend. That’s on 20th October at Gallatown Hub to confirm that everything is in place. If this timeline proves too ambitious, we’ll shift our focus. We can plan to try again next year and begin exploring the potential for an event in December.

Initial Ideas

Everything is still up for discussion.

  1. Pumpkins from Asda/Aldi for rows of Jack O’Lanterns (Maybe £50 worth)
  2. Playranger involvement
  3. Bring a lantern (we can provide battery candles, maybe £25 to cover that)
  4. Someone serving hot food at the end of the walk (£50 to cover this)
  5. Someone serving hot drinks at the end of the walk
  6. Glow sticks and bands (About £25-£35 worth)
  7. Scarecrow-style decorations (Halloween characters made using old costumes on a stick).
