Summer 2023 – Outdoor Play, Painting and Woodwork

  • 5 July 2023

Resources Needed

The Gallatown community is doing great things this summer under the supervision and guidance of Cairinne MacDonald.

We’ll need donations of various resources to continue the fun. View our donation ideas list by clicking here.

Loose Parts Play

We provided a natural space with various objects to play with.

Building and Painting Planters

The community workshop aims to support bees by establishing our very own built and painted planters all over the area.

Gardening and Landscaping

We continue to increase diversity in our community space. The children love to see strawberry plants growing in tires.

Woodwork Practice

The community has its own workshop and for the first time, we offered drop-in sessions for families. People of all ages turn up early in the day no matter the weather to practice woodwork.

Waterwall

Our wild play space now has a water activity wall thanks to some very enthusiastic community members. Children will watch run-down tubes and anything we can think to add to it.

Cable Drum Tables

We had a wonderful time gathering to paint round tables together. These tables are created using cable drums and can be used for play too.

L-Shaped Bench

We had a great time building a bench during our first session for the summer holidays. The bench was made using cut-offs left over when our shelter was built.

The rain didn’t stop this family from getting out and working on the bench from start to finish!
